History of the Thriller Genre

HISTORY OF THE THRILLER GENRE
A thriller is a broad genre of film. Thrillers are normally outlined by a fast pacing beat , frequent use of action and the broad use of adventure. Thrillers normally consist of antagonists and protagonists as the characters of this genre. Thrillers often take place in exotic settings such as foreign cities, deserts, polar regions, or high seas. The heroes in most thrillers are frequently "hard men" addicted to danger: soldiers, spies, seamen, pilots or law enforcement officers. However, they may also be ordinary citizens drawn into danger by accident. While such heroes have traditionally been men, women have become increasingly common to the thriller genre.

Thrillers often relapse with stories that consist of much mystery, but are more known for the structure of their plots. In a thriller, the hero must abolish the plans of an enemy, rather than uncover a crime that has already happened.

Alfred Hitchcock has influenced the thriller genre for many years, i believe that he was a highly influential film director and producer who did pioneer many techniques into the thriller genre. Furthermore many thrillers in the present age have ground basis to most of Hitchocks films like the good looking women, the exotic places and similar story lines.
example : psycho was a thriller film that firstly introduced many thriller characteristics.
this shower scene represents the history of thriller for it was one of the first ones produced by Hitchcock. The use of a serial killer, very pretty women, mystery, fast pace score produces the sense of a thriller.
classic thrillers are different to the contemporary thrillers because the technology they used in the past was that of a simpler form, this leads me to conclude that the quality alongside reality of the film would be not be as well crafted as the new thrillers. The ideology and basis of the classic thrillers are still seen in todays thriller films ; like the mystery, good looking women and the protagonist.
However recent thrillers have turned into a more of action thrillers, hence the antagonists would be the hero and protagonists would be killed . this is represented in many bond films, this is different from a classic thriller because the antagonists have more authority in the bond films and the protagonist is normally killed. Personally  i think most thrillers by alfred hitchcock would not get outdated they have not developed as such but have developed the ideas of new thrillers. i believe that ' the bond ' films have developed so much because from the 1960's were espionage  thrillers with Sean Connery and Roger Moore as there actors very classy sophisticated furthermore the films then developed to a action thriller  a younger actor Daniel Craig is the main actor; he is younger character and built for all the action involved.
